This blog post marks the beginning of what I hope to be the collector's standard guidebook for new and existing collectors of animation production art. I'm Max, I learned about animation production in 2016, and I coded this site from scratch. I didn't get my first cel until 2019, it was SpongeBob. I wanted a complete guidebook, and still to this day I can't find any user-friendly websites with updated info. This Guidebook was built with the community's opinion kept in mind. It's important to remember that this guidebook will probably update and change as time goes on. This guidebook just makes things easier for everyone. It's as simple as sharing out link!

The start of Animation Production was actually just posting on social media to educate people on animation production, and using this website as a way to contact me for advice or get deals for SpongeBob production. I ended up using "Animation Production" for a school project where we had to make real environmental design mock-ups. I spent time making the vector logos and creating a museum/exhibit experience mock-up. This school project was back in 2023, and I included the Blimp advertisement I made for the exhibit as this blog post's featured image. Maybe someday I can host a real exhibit!

More recently, I wanted to do something with this site, instead of letting it rot. With some free time & motivation, I was able to rehaul this site within February 2026. Please check out our Trusted Sellers page and Donation Page if you're interested. Also thanks to Kyleglor for helping.

I wanted to share that on October 21st, 2025, a SpongeBob setup sold for $10,200 on Heritage Auctions. I have never seen a SpongeBob non-pilot cel go for this much in an auction. I'm excited to see Heritage's next auctions. I might post them here!

My goal for this site is to keep up with the blog with any big news or information for the world & get labeled as a reputable source for all collectors.
