Finding animation production art in the wild might seem impossible, but trust me, these treasures are out there. Early March 2026, as I am visiting my parents' house, my father goes to the garage. He brings out two Sericels he found at a thrift shop the day before. I was so surprised to see these! First thing I told my father was “Don’t keep those in the garage!” and then I went to take a look. One of them is a MLB Yankees Bugs Bunny Sericel. I believe they made around 5000, and it has a Looney Tunes plus a MLB stamp at the bottom. The other was Woody Woodpecker playing the guitar and singing, like a mariachi band. This one has a Woody Woodpecker stamp too. After some research, it seems like these Sericels have not gone up or down in value but have stayed the same since 2004. This is due to the fact that they are Sericels and they are framed, which is a bonus. I personally do not collect or look for Sericels, and I try to stick to originals. My father wouldn’t have bought these frames if I hadn't told him about production art. He also got them for $50 each at the thrift shop, so it’s definitely worth it if you can find the right fan to purchase these. In this case, Looney Tunes or Woody Woodpecker fans should be interested. Remember, this hobby is not like Pokémon cards. It’s not about buying to profit, it’s about the right fan getting art for something they love.

As a fan of production art, this story gets better. The very next day, March 12th, I visit a local antique shop with my girlfriend on the way home. I just had a feeling I wanted to go check it out. One of the first sections I saw was a Star Wars collection. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I found real Star Wars production cels & drawings! Although they were very cheap, the characters and cels didn’t capture me as SpongeBob cels do. These Star Wars cels are from the Ewoks Cartoon series, and I never watched it. I propped them up, took some pictures, and left them for other Star Wars fans! I was told these cels were selling like hot cakes, and the seller who set up the collection might restock with more, so I definitely will check on them again.
